What is PLA?

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a biodegradable plastic made from renewable plant-based materials like corn, sugarcane, and cassava.
Is PLA Biodegradable?

While it is not Petroleum based, PLA is not truly biodegradable as it requires specific environment to degrade. It is commercially compostable (not like your back yard).
